| There are various electronic sound formats. The most popular
are midi (polyphonic), mmf (monophonic), mp3, wav and amr.
Midi is the better quality ringtone compared to the old style
MMF ringtone and is used mostly by the new generation of mobile
handsets. These ringtones are basically a tune amr, mp3 and
wav offer realtones (vocals mixed with beats). If you anything
about sound formats and their file size you will know mp3
and wav have generally big file sizes and are not suitable
for devices with slow connection speeds. If you have a Bluetooth
enabled handset, you can send large file sizes to each others
mobiles for free. Amr formats are generally more suitable
due to their relatively small file sizes but the quality is
not that great.
Anyway, there are many sites on the internet which allows
you to download ringtones to your mobile using WAP Push. Where
you type a number specified on the page and type in a keyword
then a ringtone is sent to your mobile through SMS (or text
message).
The other type is a WAP site where you type in a number and
keyword and you are sent a password and everytime you that
site you type in the password and you can download ringtones
straight to your mobile that way.
